Raw is naturally digestible.  Just like people, dogs absorb nutrients better from whole foods rather than synthetic vitamins which are often added in after in the process of manufacturing kibble and canned food. Dogs thrive on a diet that’s rich in quality protein and low in carbohydrates and sugars.

You can switch your puppy or kitten to raw as soon as they leave their mom normally at 8 weeks.

No, dogs are qualified to deal with bacteria.  Their short digestive tract is designed to push their food down quickly so that the bacteria doesn’t have a chance to colonize. Furthermore, their saliva has antibacterial properties to kill bacteria.

Keep raw food for your pet in the freezer until it’s time to thaw. Refreezing raw meat should be avoided unless carefully portioned because it can allow harmful bacteria to grow!

When determining how much your pet should eat, you must consider several factors.

The appropriate meal size is determined by factors such as:

  • Number of meals
  • Body weight
  • Age
  • Amount of exercise

We recommend feeding your dog 2-3% of his or her ideal body weight per day.

Simply divide the total by the number of meals you feed per day. (For example, 50-pound dog x 2% = 1.) This means your pet needs 1 pound of food per day. Divided into two meals = half pound per serving.).

We have a calculator to help you with the feeding recommendation you’re welcome to use.

Many dog behaviour specialists have posited that raw food diets can give them more stamina for play and work, improving their behaviour, while also making them more relaxed after dinner thanks to the fact they’re getting a more satisfying meal. It may result in a much better-behaved dog.

You have two options for the transition, and we suggest starting with a poultry meal for the first couple of days. Next, we recommend a rotation of three or more proteins including red and white meat.

  1. Feed the last kibble meal and the first raw meal 8-12 hours apart, it’s just that simple!

  2. Start adding progressively more raw to the kibble meal during a week.
  • Day 1-2 : 25% raw, 75% kibble
  • Day 3-4 : 50% raw, 50% kibble
  • Day 5-6 : 75% raw, 25% kibble
  • Day 7: 100% raw
